"Leadership is most effective when it is shared, developed, and embedded across a whole organisation."
Suzanne Owens has worked in education for over 32 years, in classrooms and leadership roles across England, the Isle of Man, and around the world.
She began her headship in England, before going on to become a Headteacher on the Isle of Man for eight years, leading a whole-school redesign of curriculum, behaviour, and inclusion, and establishing a distributed leadership model built on the belief that everyone in a school community can lead.
Beyond the UK, Suzanne has led and founded schools internationally, including as Principal of a large all-through school in the Middle East, Founding Director of a greenfield school built from the ground up, and consultant to school leaders across Eastern Europe and Central Asia. She is a qualified BSO Inspector, NPQH holder, and trained COBIS Peer Accreditor.
Today, Suzanne works as a consultant supporting Headteachers across the Northwest of England, delivering CPD on school improvement, safeguarding, and leading through difficult conversations.
Across every setting, her approach has stayed the same: that a good school is grown, not built, through the right conditions, tended consistently, and leadership that is shared rather than held by one person alone.
